Event Details

Develop an ethical will, create a midrash, compose a prayer, write a eulogy. We will explore how each of these genres developed in Judaism and analyze some classical sources to use as models for our own creativity. Participants will be invited (but not required) to share their work with the group.

Part of the Museum’s Scholar-in-Residence Program

4 sessions: Thursdays, January 17, 24, 31; February 7

All ticket sales are final, no refunds are available. If you cannot attend an event, we will exchange your tickets for another event (subject to availability). If you are unable to attend any future events we will accept your tickets as a donation, which will be acknowledged with a donation receipt.

The mission of the Museum at Eldridge Street is to strengthen, support, protect and promote the 1887 landmark Eldridge Street Synagogue as a dynamic cultural and educational center that tells the story of Jewish immigrant life at the turn of the last century, explores architecture and historic preservation, inspires reflection and cultural continuity, and fosters inter-group exchange.
